Applicants must hold current Australian citizenship status to meet governmental criteria for NV1 Baseline Clearance, which is essential for this role. 

The role:

  • Setting direction and design standards for IP networks to facilitate scalable, carrier class MPLS and IP networks that are operationally efficient to run
  • Provide architectural direction and technology settings for evolving lifecycle of IP networks
  • Provide new technology introduction capabilities to integrate vendors selections into the Vocus network environment
  • Drive forward network development plans for IP networks within the Vocus business divisions to meet wholesale, enterprise, government and consumer capabilities
  • Maintain IP security design posture of networks so Vocus is meeting customer and internal expectations of carrier class networks
  • Develop platforms for the provision of Vocus products that are engineered well, cost effective and operationally efficient
  • Develop product network support infrastructure so Vocus leads in the provision of networks within the Australian and Asia Pac region
  • Provide thought leadership and direction to advance Vocus outcomes in connectivity solutions
  • Drive virtualised networking strategy and platform engineering to provide innovative platforms for connectivity solutions.
  • Be key in driving automation for Vocus' network functions.

Skills & Experience required:

  • You must be an Australian citizen as you will need to be eligible to gain a Government Security Clearance - NV1

 

Technical

  • Extensive experience in developing and delivering service provider IP networks in a telecommunications network and data centre environment
  • Vendor experience with Nokia, Juniper and Cisco.
  • Expert understanding of IP technology , its application and design
  • Understanding of carrier networking needs and how it relates to cloud providers, OTT solutions and automation
  • Expert understanding of key technology trends in hw design and its impact on networking solutions
  • Good understanding of virtualised technologies as related to networking
  • Understanding of directional changes in orchestration and impact on modern carrier networks.
  • Expert understanding of IP Networking supporting systems, security protocols and software systems
  • Programming skills in Python or other, with demonstrated skills in automating networking
  • Demonstrated experience working with, and delivering solutions, services and advice to customers, internal and external
  • Knowledge and experience in delivering using Agile or related methodologies – note this is desirable not mandatory

Business

  • Expert understanding in the design of such networks for cost effective, scalable, supportable and operationally efficient outcomes.
  • Expert in the development and documentation of specifications, operating standards and procedures.
  • Previous experience in delivering telecommunications / IP network related programs of work – specifically large-scale Telco t network build or upgrade projects

Interpersonal

  • Demonstrate the ability to lead teams in a complex environment with multiple projects and interrelated dependencies
  • Demonstrate effective communication with key stakeholders to achieve effective project outcomes
  • Build Relationships - Personable with the ability to connect with individuals across business divisions
